Commuters are in for a soggy drive Monday morning as two storm systems settle over the area.

“Right around 5 a.m. to about 8 a.m., we could see some pretty heavy rain showers maybe some thunderstorms,” said John Darnley, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Moon Township.

Areas south of Pittsburgh could see about about a quarter of an inch of rain while areas north of Pittsburgh could see closer to a half-inch.

The region will likely continue to see showers each day through Wednesday reaching a rain total of about 2 inches from Sunday through Wednesday.

Darnley said he doesn’t expect any flooding unless a particularly heavy storm blows through.

“I don’t think we’re going to be in too much trouble,” he said.

Temperatures will remain in the low-to-mid 70s for highs and mid-to-upper 60s for lows.
