A Johnstown man will appear in Cambria County court, accused of assaulting a 7th Ward Ambulance worker after she saved his life using Narcan, authorities said.
Troy Darin Kendall, Jr., 34, who has addresses of the 500 block of Vine Street and the 800 block of Oak Street, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Thursday before District Judge Michael Musulin of Johnstown.
City police allege that Kendall suffered an overdose on June 8 at a residence on Osprey Place, according to a criminal complaint.
When police arrived, they found Kendall “laying on the kitchen floor, face up, blue in color and not breathing,” the complaint said.
An officer used “chest compression” and 7th Ward EMS personnel administered two shots of Narcan. Kendall became conscious and then defecated in his pants and on the floor, the complaint said.
Kendall was placed into the ambulance, where he continued to regain consciousness and then spit and shouted vulgarities.
“Kendall punched the EMT who saved his life,” the complaint said.
Police charged Kendall with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
A week later, police arrested Kendall at a Conner Towers apartment where they allegedly found him naked and in possession of a crack pipe.
He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Kendall also waived his right to a preliminary hearing in that case on Thursday.
