Police: Pittsburgh woman transferred drugs during kiss with state prison inmate
State police accused a Pittsburgh woman of transferring drugs during a kiss with a prison inmate in Somerset County.
Jasmine Lanell Livingston, 21, was visiting her boyfriend Anthony Jackson, 26, also of Pittsburgh, on Jan. 23 at the state prison in Somerset Township, according to troopers. Police said the pair exchanged a package containing 102 Suboxone strips from Livingston’s mouth to Jackson’s during a kiss at the end of their visit.
Jackson was placed in a cell, and the drugs were recovered three days later, according to police. Suboxone can be used to treat opioid dependence. Investigators said they found drugs in Livingston’s purse.
Livingston told police she received a small white package from a friend and kept it in her mouth when she arrived at the prison, according to court papers.
She is charged with possession with intent to deliver, contraband and related offenses. She posted $10,000 bail on Jan. 27, according to online court records. A preliminary hearing had not been rescheduled.
Troopers said they intended to charge Jackson, but a case against him had not been filed Tuesday. He is serving 3-1/2 to seven years in prison on 2017 weapons violations out of Allegheny County, according to online court records.
Inmates and visitors are permitted to exchange a “brief kiss and embrace” at the beginning and end of a visit, according to the state Department of Corrections.
