Police: Woman stabs husband after he chokes her during argument at Belle Vernon home

A woman allegedly stabbed her husband during a fight at their Fayette County home on Saturday, according to state police.

Troopers went to the 100 block of Johnston Avenue in Belle Vernon just before 6 p.m. in response to a reported stabbing.

According to police, Gregory Scott Roddy, 52, had assaulted and choked Amanda Anne Roddy, 43, on the back patio of their home.

Police said Amanda Roddy got a knife from a kitchen drawer and stabbed Gregory Roddy in the left bicep after she told him not to come back into the house.

According to court records, Amanda Roddy was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. She was taken to the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $7,500 bond.

Gregory Roddy was charged with strangulation, simple assault and harassment. He was sent to the county prison in lieu of $5,000 bond.

Both are scheduled for preliminary hearings Oct. 12 before District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
