The Project on Rural Ministry is looking for a few good pastors.

The project, administered by Grove City College and funded by the Lilly Endowment, will recruit 30 pastors from evangelical Christian churches to participate in a five-year program designed to strengthen ministry in rural areas.

Participating pastors must come from Western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, northeast Ohio or southwest New York.

In Pennsylvania, pastors from the following counties can apply: Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango, Warren, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

Enrolled pastors will participate in a fully-funded student internship, a service-learning project suited to each pastor’s local context, an online networking community, fellowship with other rural and small-town pastors, and a chance to interact with experts.

There is no cost to ministers or their churches. Interested pastors have until April 26 to apply.

“We are seeking solo or senior pastor participants who are excited about the prospect of collaborating with one another and with (Grove City College’s) faculty and students to strengthen local ministry in rural and small-town contexts,” said Charles Cotherman, project administrative director.

The project opens Aug. 9-10 and concludes in August 2023.
