The greater Pittsburgh area tied its record low temperature on Tuesday night.

“We’re calling for a low tonight of somewhere in the low to mid teens,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist Matthew Kramer. “The Nov. 12 record low for the Pittsburgh area is 17 degrees. If we hit that before midnight, that would be a new record.”

The Pittsburgh area cooled down to 17 degrees around 11 p.m., according to Stephen Cropper, meteorologist at the Trib’s news partner, WPXI.

Additional cool weather overnight could also put the region close to a record low for Nov. 13, which is 13 degrees.

If the temperature does dip that low, Kramer said ice could become an issue despite the ground still being relatively warm.

“Re-freezing on untreated roads could be a concern,” he said.
