Power was expected to be restored by about 6:30 a.m. to the last of the homes affected by Monday’s storm-related outages, according to the West Penn Power website.
There are about 40 customers without electricity in Westmoreland County and less than 10 in Allegheny County, after storms rolled through the region Monday and left sporadic power outages.
Westmoreland County saw about 400 incidents in all, with the largest coming from Ligonier Township with about 135 reports. The bulk of outages were reported near Idlewild & Soak Zone along Bender’s Lane.
Other outages in Westmoreland were reported in Greensburg, with about 50, and Unity, with almost 90.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued in several surrounding areas Monday including in parts of Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania like Mercer, Farrell and New Wilmington. Wind gusts were expected to reach up to 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

By 5 a.m. Tuesday, there were three Duquesne Light outages remaining that affected 25 customers. The bulk of the reports were in Moon Township, Allegheny County, with 20 outages.
That’s down from about 1,400 customers who were affected in different parts of the region on Monday night.
The majority of those outages, about 1,000, were reported on Mt. Washington. By midnight most of those customers had restored power.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms were expected Tuesday morning, National Weather Service meteorologist Shannon Hefferan said, but they are not expected to last throughout the day. Temperatures will range in the mid to upper 80s as a cold front moves through the region, lowering a heat index that reached 97 degrees in the Pittsburgh area Monday, Hefferan said.
