A Westmoreland County woman was charged this week in Indiana County with four counts of child endangerment after state police said she overdosed in a Brush Valley home with four young children nearby.

Kayla Jo Harnett, 29, of Seward, was found unresponsive in a residence along Route 56 just before noon Tuesday “with three used needles and some empty and full stamp bags of suspected heroin were observed in plain view in the living room,” Trooper John Williams reported.

Williams said that a girl, age 1, and three boys, ages 3, 5 and 6, were in the home at the time.

Paramedics revived Harnett using Narcan, according to police reports.

Harnett was arraigned and ordered held in the county jail on $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Feb. 23.

Online court dockets indicate Harnett has no prior criminal record in Pennsylvania.
