Sheetz announced Wednesday that it is giving its workers an extra $3 per hour during the coronavirus outbreak.
In a release, the company said the pay raise will run through April 23.
“Our employees are the heart and soul of Sheetz and their commitment to serve our customers and communities as an essential business during this critical time has been nothing short of extraordinary,” Sheetz president and COO Travis Sheetz said. “This special compensation is just one way to express our gratitude during this difficult time.”
In addition, Sheetz said it was continuing to hire new employees. Full and part-time positions are available for day and night shifts.
The company stressed that “the health and well-being of its team members, customers and the communities remains a top priority as the situation around covid-19 continues to evolve.”
To that end, the company has implemented changes such as suspending self-serve beverages — coffee, fountain, tea, frozen drinks and F’Real milkshakes — and removing bakery items. Sheetz workers also have stepped up their routine daily cleaning with extra focus on high-touch surfaces like gas pumps, order points, countertops and door handles.
To encourage social distancing, the company is encouraging ordering through their app or online.
