Sheetz to bring more pop-up concert experiences to Pittsburgh

After the All-American Rejects performed a surprise pop-up concert Friday at Sheetz in Robinson, the chain said more collaborative concerts are on the way — including appearances by the Jonas Brothers.

Sheetz said Wednesday it was named the official convenience partner for the JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour, featuring both the All-American Rejects and Jonas Brothers. The tour kicked off Tuesday night at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

“Through this partnership, fans can look forward to behind-the-scenes content and surprise moments at Sheetz locations, that are filmed by the bands, throughout the duration of the tour,” the announcement said.

The Rejects pop-up concert also marked the start of Sheetz’ new live entertainment series called “Sheetzertainment,” which will feature a full lineup of “live shows, unique activations and wild collaborations,” according to the announcement.

“Chainsaws, sandwiches, surprise concerts and iconic bands — that’s just a regular month at Sheetz!” said Ryan Sheetz, executive vice president of marketing and supply chain. “We’re not just a convenience store that provides flavor-packed experiences. We’re your front-row ticket to unforgettable entertainment, and the party is just getting started.”

On Aug. 23, Sheetz is partnering with Sofar Sounds, which connects artists and audiences through unique and intimate experiences, according to its website, for “a secret show experience” to spotlight three rising local artists in Pittsburgh as the next installment of the Sheetzertainment series.

More information will be announced soon, Sheetz said.

For Friday’s Rejects pop-up show, tickets dropped two hours before showtime — with alerts sent to fans who signed up for surprise tour notifications through the Rejects’ “House Party Show(s) RSVP” site. Only those in the greater Pittsburgh area who joined the list received the show details on Friday, Sheetz said.
