The National Weather Service lifted its winter storm advisories for most of Southwestern Pennsylvania region Monday afternoon, but a bit more snow is expected to fall.

Officials at the National Weather Service station in Moon measured 6.1 inches of snowfall between the start of the storm early Sunday morning and 6 p.m. Monday.

Similar snowfall totals were reported by trained snow spotters around the region, according to the NWS.

Most of the region is forecasted to receive an additional 1-2 inches of snow Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect for some communities in higher elevations, such as Latrobe, Ligonier, Indiana and Uniontown, which could see an additional 2-4 inches. The advisories are set to expire at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Emergency dispatchers in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties said they had not had many calls for crashes due to weather conditions.

Crews have been working to keep roads clear. In Pittsburgh, 50 crews were dispatched overnight, according to a tweet from Pittsburgh Public Works.

Plow trucks in the city can be tracked online.

PennDOT restrictions on speed limits and commercial vehicles in Western Pennsylvania which were in effect Monday morning had been lifted by evening. Restrictions remained in place on many highways east of Altoona as of 6:30 p.m., according to PennDOT.

According to the National Weather Service forecast, snow is expected to end by Tuesday night. Partly sunny skies are expected Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the mid-30s. Friday is expected to be warmer, with a high of 43 degrees, and rain is likely.
