Officials at Seven Springs Mountain Resort released details this morning of a snowboarding run on Dec. 27 that led to a Crescent Township man’s death.
Matthew Camacho-Cook, 35, died Thursday after suffering a head injury while snowboarding with his family at the Laurel Mountain getaway.
Alex Moser, director of marketing and communications, said Camacho-Cook was snowboarding on a green slope (beginner) and was wearing a helmet. The accident happened on the slopes at about noon and the Seven Springs Ski Patrol responded immediately, he said. Camacho-Cook was transported to the hospital by helicopter where he later died.
“All of us at Seven Springs are deeply saddened by the tragic accident that occurred here,” Moser said.
“Our hearts go out to Mr. Camacho-Cook and his family. Please keep him and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers, as they will be in ours.”
