The Chateau, The Grand Lodge at Nemacolin make AAA 5 Diamond list
The Chateau and The Grand Lodge at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort were recently included as members of the AAA Five Diamond Designation list. Falling Rock at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort has maintained the AAA Five Diamond Designation consecutively since 2006.
The three facilities and one hotel in Philadelphia are the only Five Diamond Hotels in Pennsylvania.
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is a luxury resort in Farmington, covering more than 2,200 acres. The Chateau at Nemacolin is a Parisian-inspired building, while the Grand Lodge is a Tudor-style woodland lodge.
“These locations offer Western Pennsylvanians, and others, a real opportunity to step into some serious luxury,” Jim Garrity, director of public affairs for AAA East Central, said. “We’re pleased to offer them the 5 Diamonds. It’s a testament to their superior standards.”
Representatives from Nemacolin were not immediately available for comment.
The AAA Diamond rating system has five levels, with Five Diamond being the highest. This status represents world-class luxury and exceptional service. Less than one percent of the 23,000 Diamond lodgings have Five Diamond status.
Garrity describes 5 Diamond establishments as “very indulgent.”
“They’re a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” he said.
The designations are made after AAA professional inspectors conduct in-person property evaluations. To earn the AAA Five Diamond designation, hotels and restaurants must pass a rigorous evaluation based on unannounced, in-person inspections, anonymous overnight stays for hotels and review by a panel of experts. All AAA Diamond Program hotels and restaurants are re-evaluated annually.
“While [Nemacolin] has been setting these standards for years, it’s one extra feather in their cap,” Garrity said. “AAA has their confidence to say this is a 5 Diamond location. The Chateau and The Grand Lodge at Nemacolin are now on the 5 Diamond list. It’s very prestigious from AAA’s perspective.”
