Thunderstorms could bring damaging winds, large hail this afternoon

A hazardous weather alert was issued early Friday morning calling for severe thunderstorms with damaging wind and large hail for the afternoon and evening.

The alert issued by the National Weather Service in Moon covers southwestern Pennsylvania, western Maryland, east central Ohio, northern West Virginia and the northern West Virginia panhandle.

Friday’s temperature is expected to reach a high near 74 with cloudy skies.

The remainder of the weekend will be sunny and warm, but there will be a chance of thunderstorms both days.

Saturday’s forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. The remainder of the day will be partly sunny with a high near 82.

There will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m. on Sunday. After that, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 84 degrees.
