Transportation Security Administration officials announced travelers can bring larger amounts of liquid hand sanitizer on board with them in response to coronavirus concerns.
Passengers can now pass security with 12-ounce containers of hand sanitizer in carry-on bags until further notice.
The adjusted policy only applies to hand sanitizer. Limits on all other liquids, gels and aerosols brought to a checkpoint continues to be 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters.
.@TSA now allowing passengers to bring liquid hand sanitizer up to 12 oz in carry-on bags until further notice. Expect these containers larger than the standard of 3.4 oz of liquids will need to be screened separately, which will add some time to checkpoint screening.

A ban on liquids, gels, and aerosols went into effect in 2006, after United Kingdom officials uncovered a terrorist plot to create bombs using a variety of liquids. The bombs were to be assembled on flights headed to the United States.
