Trib Total Media was named the overall best daily newspaper in Pennsylvania in the Society of Professional Journalists Keystone Chapter’s Excellence in Journalism contest for 2019.

It was the second consecutive year the Trib won the organization’s top award.

“We are humbled by this recognition from such a prestigious, time-honored organization as the Society of Professional Journalists,” said Susan McFarland, executive editor at Trib Total Media. “We don’t set out to win awards. Our journalists work hard every day to bring the very best in local news to our readers. That is and will remain our mission.

“Of course, it’s gratifying when those efforts are recognized as being the best among the many, many great news organizations.”

The contest, which is not based on circulation but on quality of the profession and what it stands for, is open to all journalists from Pennsylvania and New Jersey whose work appeared in a publication in one of the two states.
