An Arkansas man died after he drove his pickup off the road and into a creek early Sunday morning in Butler County, according to state police.

Troopers identified him as Michael C. Cain Jr., 25, of El Dorado.

The crash occurred just after 4:30 a.m. on Route 68, also known as Evans City Road, in Forward Township, troopers said.

According to state police, Cain was driving westbound on the highway when he crossed the center line, struck and went over a guardrail, and landed on a hillside. Once on the hillside, the pickup slid over a culvert and went into a creek.

Cain died at the scene, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Note: This story was updated to correct Cain’s state of residence.
