First responders are seen at the site of a hit-and-run that fatally injured a truck driver on Monday on a Pennsylvania Turnpike ramp in Robinson Township, Washington County.

A truck driver was killed Monday afternoon after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on a Pennsylvania Turnpike ramp in Washington County.

Brian Everhart, 46, who had listed addresses in Clarksburg, W.Va., and Russellville, Tenn., was struck after he pulled his rig onto the shoulder of the on-ramp from Route 22 eastbound to Turnpike 576 (the Southern Beltway) and got out to check on a mechanical issue, according to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.

The other driver did not remain at the scene in Robinson Township, Warco said.

Motorists reported the incident to 911 shortly before 3:40 p.m.

A ruling on the cause of death is pending completion of an autopsy, Warco said.

Additional details were not available early Tuesday from state police, who are investigating.
