Uniontown man convicted of 1st-degree murder in wife’s 2023 death
A Fayette County man was convicted of first-degree murder Thursday for killing his wife, according to Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele.
Arthur E. Guty, 57, of Uniontown was immediately sentenced to a term of life imprisonment in connection with the December 2023 death of Nicole Zambrano, 26, Aubele said.
“We grieve with the numerous friends and family members of Nicole, many of whom traveled from Venezuela and across the United States to participate in this trial and secure justice for her; may her memory be eternal,” he wrote in a social media post.
Zambrano was reported missing in late December by coworkers at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort after she hadn’t shown up for work for a few days, police said previously. Uniontown police started investigating Dec. 29, 2023, and eventually found her with a fatal gunshot wound inside her Bierer Avenue home.
Guty had more than $100,000 in cash on him when he was taken into custody Jan. 1, 2024, at a resort in Las Vegas, the same day police filed charges of homicide, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence against him. He has been held at the Fayette County Prison since then awaiting trial.
Guty in 2019 was the target of an apparent attempt on his life by a previous wife, TribLive news partner WTAE reported at the time.
Roxanne Guty, 58, was sentenced in 2021 to 20 months of probation and two months of electronic monitoring for trying to hire a hit man to kill her then-husband, according to court records. Roxanne Guty offered to split a life insurance policy with the hit man if he killed Arthur Guty, police told WTAE. The hit man later told Arthur Guty about the plot.
Her probation was terminated early in 2022.
