The U.S. Postal Service says it has jobs available across Pennsylvania.

The United States Postal Service has numerous openings for rural carrier associate positions throughout Western Pennsylvania .

The positions pay $18.56 an hour and are paid bi-weekly, according to postal service spokeswoman Jill Walters.

Interested applicants can only apply online at usps.com/careers. From the website, applicants can click “Search Jobs,” select “Pennsylvania” and then click “Start.”

Walters said applicants will find numerous position listings with a link to job requirements and specifications.

After completing the online application, applicants should click the save tab. Walters said applicants should make sure they electronically submit the online job application.

The USPS encourages applicants to check the website regularly to keep up with the changes in position openings. There is no fee to apply for a position with the postal service. Applicants will be contacted via email for further employment and suitability requirements, Walters said. Applicants must be 18 years of age, or 16 years of age with a high school diploma.

Applicants must be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background investigation. Some positions require an exam.

Any position that has a driving requirement will also require a valid driver’s license and a clean two-year driving history. Citizenship or permanent resident status is required. Additionally, if an applicant has been outside of the U.S. for more than six months out of the last 5 years, the postal service is not able to process a clearance for them. This applies to both U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens.
