FIOS TV customers will be able to watch the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics on Pittsburgh’s WPXI after a dispute that started in December between the Verizon television service and Cox Media Group.

Cox Media is WPXI’s parent company.

Verizon failed to reach an agreement on a new retransmission deal with Cox Media Group after weeks of negotiation attempts. The previous deal expired Dec. 15. Cox Media accused Verizon of blocking viewers’ access to local news, weather, emergency information, live sports and entertainment programming.

FIOS TV notified customers Saturday afternoon that an agreement has been reached with Cox Media.

“You can now enjoy the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics this weekend on WPXI,” FIOS TV said in the alert.
