Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt will be the keynote speakers for the 18th annual 9/11 observance at the Flight 93 National Memorial on Wednesday, the National Park Service announced Friday.

Pence last spoke for the memorial’s 9/11 observance in 2017. President Trump spoke in 2018.

The memorial, which honors the 40 passengers and crew members of United Flight 93, is located off U.S. Route 30 near Shanksville, Somerset County.

The annual observance will begin at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Plaza adjacent to the Wall of Names. At 10:03 a.m. — the moment Flight 93 crashed — the names of the passengers and crew members will be read and Bells of Remembrance will be rung in their memory.

Other participants will include:

  • River City Brass Band, Pittsburgh
  • The Rev. Paul Britton, Families of Flight 93
  • Gordon Felt, president of Families of Flight 93
  • Mitchell Zuckoff, author of “Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11”

Entrance to the memorial will close at sunset on Tuesday and will reopen at 6 a.m. Wednesday. The public is invited to attend the hour-long observance and is encouraged to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to the ceremony.

The Flight 93 Visitor Center will be closed during the ceremony and will open at noon.

Although the Tower of Voices was dedicated in 2018, the 40 chimes will not be ready for installation in time for Wednesday’s observance.
