Former WTAE news anchor Wendy is heard on WJAS Pittsburgh daily.

Wendy Bell, a conservative talk show host, has been promoted to full-time status at WJAS Pittsburgh, according to the station’s website.

Bell joined the station part time in January. Her show aired Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. till noon and Friday from 9 a.m. till noon on WJAS 1320AM and 99.1 FM and the iHeartRadio app.

“The Wendy Bell Show” is now slated to air from 9 a.m. till noon Monday through Friday.

Bell could not immediately be reached for comment.

When Bell was initially hired at WJAS in January, J.D. Turco, senior vice president at St. Barnabas Broadcasting, which owns the station, said he believed Bell would fit in well.

“There’s a lot of conservative talk there,” Turco said in January. “We believe she fits well into that lineup.”

Previously, KDKA Radio removed Bell from the air after she made controversial comments during her show there in September. She suggested park rangers should “shoot on sight” people defacing public monuments. In October, she officially parted ways with KDKA Radio.

Bell was fired from WTAE, where she served as a longtime news anchor, in 2016, over a Facebook post she wrote on her official work account in the aftermath of a mass shooting in Wilkinsburg.

In the post, she expressed sorrow over the attack before saying she imagined the shooters to be young Black men with prior arrests who “have multiple siblings from multiple fathers and the mothers work multiple jobs.”
