Both drivers died who were involved in a crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 70 in Washington County.

Both people, a man and a woman, were from West Virginia; they were traveling by themselves.

Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco identified woman as Donna K. Havens, 59, of Wheeling.

Warco said Havens was driving eastbound when she lost control and crossed the center median.

Her vehicle stuck William L. Magers, 69, of Glen Dale, W.Va. who was heading in the opposite direction.

The accident occurred in Donegal Township near Exit 6, sometime before 5:20 p.m., Warco reported.

Havens was taken to Wheeling Hospital where she later died.

The accident shut down Interstate 70 for hours. PennDOT reported at about 7:50 p.m. that the eastbound lanes had reopened and announced at 8:25 p.m. that the westbound lanes had been cleared.

The accident is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
