National Weather Service issues wind advisory for Pittsburgh region
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for most of the area beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday and continuing into Thursday morning.
The wind is expected to start picking up in the mid-to-late morning Wednesday and continue through the afternoon, meteorologist Bill Modzelewski said.
Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph are in the forecast, with gusts of 45 to 50 mph in the Pittsburgh area and up to 55 mph in higher elevations such as the Laurel Highlands, Modzelewski said.
Downed trees, limbs and power lines are possible. Residents are being advised to secure any loose objects outside and prepare for difficult driving conditions.

Rain will be steady from early morning until around noon, with scattered showers after that. A quarter to a third of an inch of rain is expected, Modzelewski said.
Temperatures will be above the average of 47 degrees, expected to reach into the lower 60s on Wednesday.
Cooler temperatures are expected for Thanksgiving.
The forecast calls for below-normal temperatures Thursday, with highs in the lower 40s. Modzelewski said Thursday is expected to be fairly cloudy but dry, and there could still be some gusty winds, especially in higher elevations.
