Firefighters in New Castle, Lawrence County, rescued a woman from a burning house after she went back inside to retrieve her pets.

The fire broke out in the kitchen of the home along East Lutton Street shortly after midnight, according to Tribune-Review news partners WPXI-TV.

Authorities told the television station that the 24-year-old woman was able to flee the house when the fire erupted but got trapped on the second floor when she returned to try to save her pets.

The woman, whose name was not released, was transported to a hospital for treatment. No information was available about her condition.
