Police: Woman used Washington County hair salon as prostitution base
Pennsylvania State Police say a Burgettstown woman was selling sex acts at a Washington County hair salon.
Amy E. Zlobin, 51, was charged April 20 with prostitution, Trooper Rocco Gagliardi said Wednesday.
In April, Hanover Township police said they received multiple complaints about possible prostitution happening at Embellish Hair Cuts, 1100 Steubenville Pike, around the corner from a Grab-N-Go. The complaints all revolved around a woman named “Amy.”
“Troopers were able to find various websites in regards to individuals who posted about their intimate relations with Amy Zlobin on online forums,” state police said in a news release.
Some of these websites featured Zlobin’s description and phone number, as well as a descriptive list of sex acts she would perform, according to a criminal complaint.
Troopers said they set up an appointment with Zlobin, in which they arranged for a 30-minute appointment for $130.
At 1:55 p.m. April 19, the undercover trooper met Zlobin and handed her the money, the complaint said. She then began to close all the blinds and lock the doors for the salon. Zlobin, who took off “several layers” of clothes and was dressed in a “tight, black, spandex-type” outfit, agreed to the payment and to perform a sex act. She told the trooper to sit on the massage table and relax.
The trooper then identified themselves and placed Zlobin in custody with fellow troopers, who were in full uniform, according to the complaint.
Zlobin told police she has been involved in prostitution since the autumn of 2022, the criminal complaint said. She said she needed the money for her daughter, who has medical issues.
Zlobin turned over her notebook, “which included many appointments and numbers,” to police.
A woman who answered the Erie-area phone number listed in the criminal complaint identified herself as Amy Zlobin but declined to comment and hung up the phone after the Trib reporter clarified why they were calling.
She has a June 22 hearing in front of District Judge Gary H. Havelka, whose magisterial district office is based in Burgettstown.
