PennDOT is alerting motorists that single-lane restrictions are in place through late July for improvement work on a stretch of Route 8 also known as Butler Street.
Restrictions are in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights on Route 8 between the 62nd Street Bridge and Baker Street. Crews will begin milling and paving operations Monday night, June 16. Work will occur on weekends as needed.
This $9.14 million project spanning Pittsburgh, Etna and Shaler began in August with inlet improvements on Route 8.
The project between Baker Street and the 62nd Street Bridge in the southern portion includes milling and resurfacing, retaining wall repairs and the installation of a barrier to separate travel lanes from a future shared-use path.
The northern portion of the project is between the 62nd Street Bridge and Saxonburg Boulevard and includes concrete pavement restoration and preservation work on two structures carrying Route 8 over Pine Creek.
Additional work throughout the project includes sign and signal upgrades, guide rail updates, drainage work, ADA curb ramp updates and pavement markings/delineation installation.
The project is expected to conclude later this year.
