Argo AI, a self-driving car startup, is expanding its headquarters in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.

The company will take over three additional floors at the 130,500-square-foot office building.

“Argo AI was founded in Pittsburgh and the city will always be home to our global headquarters,” Argo AI wrote in a statement. “With plans to soon exceed 700 employees based in the area, and more than 1,800 in total globally, Pittsburgh plays a pivotal role in our future.”

The company declined to offer details about how they will use the space or the exact number of employees they currently have in the Pittsburgh region.

Argo also has locations in Palo Alto and Los Angeles; Detroit; Cranbury, N.J.; Washington, D.C.; Miami; and Austin, Texas. The company’s European headquarters is located in Munich, Germany, and they have a fleet testing site in Hamburg, Germany.

Founded in 2016 by Bryan Salesky and Peter Rander, Argo AI has since partnered with Ford and Volkswagen.

The company shares the Riverfront West facility with Serendipity Labs, Rycon Construction and Oxford.

Argo announced in 2017 that they were locating their global headquarters in the Riverfront West, one of several buildings comprising Oxford’s 3 Crossings development. The 3 Crossings development — which spans 20 acres in the city’s Strip District — is a mixed-use development featuring offices, retail, restaurants and residential space.
