'A Conversation: Sharing History of Sewickley’s African American Community' event held at Tull

St. Matthew AME Zion Church/Daniel B. Matthews Historical Society and The Sewickley Community Center led “A Conversation: Sharing History of Sewickley’s African American Community” at The Tull Family Theater on Feb. 27.

Photos dating back to the early 1900s through current times highlighted the thriving African American social and business community throughout the years.

The event was attended by more than 150 people, including some from outside the area participating via Zoom. Stratton Nash, organizer of the event, thanked the team of Helene Zacharias, Gloria “Peaches” Cook, June Wormsley, Dorinda Taylor and Joyce Parker for their efforts in gathering and sharing information about the photos so that they could be uploaded and documented online by Shelley Murray from Forever.
