Sewickley Public Library

Sewickley Public Library, 500 Thorn St., again is offering express library services.

The Express Library gives users a chance to come into the library to browse the collection, check out items and use the public computers. The library is taking precautions to ensure the safety of library staff and patrons, including requiring masks for all patrons, increasing cleaning and sanitizing of highly used areas, offering hours for high-risk individuals and limiting visit times to 30 minutes.

Meetings, private work or study sessions and gatherings are not permitted.

Curbside pickup is still available.

For the latest updates or to register for virtual events, call 412-741-6920 or visit sewickleylibrary.org.

Lynda.com change

Learning resource Lynda.com has become LinkedIn Learning for Library. The updated database offers twice the number of educational courses in six additional languages (including all courses previously on Lynda.com).

With LinkedIn Learning, Sewickley Public Library cardholders can access more than 16,000 courses for free with their library card. Courses for relevant, in-demand skills are taught by expert instructors with real-world experience.

Learn a variety of topics, including leadership, product management, sales, Excel, job hunting, digital marketing, photography, animation, CAD, web design and much more. With 60 new courses added each week, there’s always something new to learn.

Already a Lynda.com user? Your login stays the same and you can still access all previously completed courses. Don’t have a Lynda.com account, but do have a LinkedIn account? You can use it to log in! Don’t have any account at all? It’s free to sign up. All you need is your Sewickley Public Library card.

Get Lit book club

Dubbed “a social cure for your average book club,” this 21 and over book club focuses on edgy, irreverent and contemporary titles. Each month members will meet at a cafe or bar to discuss the books over a latte or cocktail. The May 18 meeting will take place via Zoom — BYOB — at 7 p.m. “Outlawed” by Anna North will be up for discussion.

Pop-up book sale

The Friends of the Sewickley Public Library are bringing back pop-up sales in front of the library on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sales will be held every Saturday — weather permitting — and will offer different selections each week. Check the Friends’ Facebook page for details.
