Returning for its sixth year, the annual Brewhaha event is bringing 10 of Pittsburgh’s best craft brewers to Avonworth Community Park on March 26.

The beer festival is the marquee fundraiser for the Hollow Oak Land Trust, an organization dedicated to protecting and connecting greenspace in the Pittsburgh area.

“We are fortunate to have such an illustrious group of craft brewers that have partnered with our efforts to promote open space and conservation preserves that get people outdoors to enjoy nature,” said Lynda Stuckey, a Hollow Oak volunteer and chair of the Brewhaha committee.

Participating breweries include Allegheny City Brewing, Altered Genius Brewing, Cinderlands, Cobblehaus Brewing Company, Dancing Gnome Brewing, Emlenton Brew Haus, Full Pint Brewing, Lincoln Avenue Brewery, Old Thunder Brewing Company, and Trace Brewing. Local cider makers Few Bad Apples will also be offering their hard ciders.

In addition to beer and cider, chef Chaz Smith of Culinary Artists will curate a five-course menu that will complement the array of craft beers at the festival. The menu will include salads and stews inspired from cuisines from around the world, like Moroccan lamb meatballs and Caribbean brown stew chicken over basmati rice.

A spicy Hungarian goulash will also be served and is a dish in honor of Alexander Jozsa Bodnar, the proprietor of Jozsa Corner restaurant in Pittsburgh who passed away last month.

A French apple-raisin cobbler with beer crème anglaise will be served for dessert.

Hollow Oak Land Trust owns six conservation areas throughout western Allegheny County — including Montour Woods, Trout Run, and Boggs Run in Moon — which provide opportunities for hiking, running, biking, birding, and more.

The Brewhaha will take place indoors at the Mayernik Center at Avonworth Community Park starting at 6 p.m. A VIP reception starts at 5 p.m. Guests can register at Hollow Oak’s website: hollowoak.org/event/brewhaha/
