Roaring ’20s Speakeasy Ball

On Nov. 20, The Edgeworth Club will be transformed into the previous century with Child Health Association of Sewickley’s Roaring ’20s Speakeasy Ball. The event is limited to 250 guests, and tickets, starting at $200, are being sold first-come, first-served. The Bachelor Boys will provide live entertainment.

Three Rivers Film Festival

The first-ever opportunity to participate in the Three Rivers Film Festival and its week of premieres at The Tull Family Theater draws closer. From Nov. 11-17, the theater will host a Pittsburgh region premiere of “Belfast,” kicking off the festival on Nov. 11, with Celtic music: a noted bagpiper and Irish musician (and tin whistle player). Friday and Saturday of Festival week feature Q&As after the films “Cyril,” a Pittsburgh-based feature, and “Now Return Us to Normal,” a Robert Morris University professor’s documentary on her search for answers to years spent in a behavior modification school.

Query Club

All meetings take place in the Community Room of the Sewickley Public Library from 7-9 p.m. the Nov. 29 meeting will feature host Lynne Schneider and speakers George Craig (Pony Express) and Linda Zang (Cahokia: America’s First City).

Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement Workshops

CARE training including an educational component and active practice for general use by adults who interact with children of all ages in a variety of settings.

CARE is a trauma-informed, field-initiated training for nonclinical adults. The training is not therapy but is based on principles taught in Parent Child Interaction Therapy. CARE utilizes the 3 P’s: praise, paraphrase, point out to connect with children and promote positive child-adult relationships. CARE training also contains a set of techniques for giving effective commands to children and a set of selective ignoring techniques to redirect problematic behaviors. Cost is $100 per participant.

Nov. 12, 9 a.m.-noon
