Edgeworth council reorganizes, reappoints president and vice president
Edgeworth council maintained its leadership this year.
Several members also were sworn in to new four-year terms at the borough’s reorganization meeting on Jan. 18.
John Schwend, borough manager and notary, swore in Mayor Gary Smith and council members Ivan Hofmann, Joseph Hoepp and Katherine Larsen.
Council then unanimously reappointed Hoepp as president and David Aloe as vice president.
Both leaders thanked their colleagues for their support.
Hoepp has served 31 years on council, including several as president.
Aloe has been on council since 1995 and served as vice president since 2017.
Schwend was reappointed as manager and secretary.
Other borough officials, such as solicitor Philip Weis and engineering firm Lennon, Smith, Souleret Engineering were also retained.
Fredrick Gregorich Jr. is the public works supervisor and building code official. John Burlett is the police chief.
Most municipalities reorganized their councils and boards of commissioners on Jan. 3.
Edgeworth had to postpone its meeting due to lack of a quorum.
Council meets at the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the borough building, 301 Beaver Road.
