Divine Redeemer Parish

The Divine Redeemer Knights of Columbus is hosting their annual Fall Feast on Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at St. James Church. All are invited to stop in for food and drink while browsing the Farmer’s Market or heading to the Sewickley Harvest Festival. Seating will be available in the St. James Gathering Space.

The Annual Oktoberfest, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, will take place on Oct. 3 from 5-9 p.m. Lots of food and drink, music and entertainment will be available for all. Cost is $15 for adults and $7 for children 10 and under. The Oktoberfest will be held at the St. James church parking lot and Gathering Space.

The Respect Life Committee receives many urgent requests for infants’ and children’s clothing, especially with the change of seasons. Please consider placing your family’s outgrown, gently-used clothing and shoes in our bin outside St. James Church or our box at the back of St. Mary Church in Aleppo. We joyfully accept sizes newborn through young adult, as well as diapers (all sizes) and wipes.

Sewickley United Methodist Church

The United Women in Faith of the Sewickley United Methodist church will host a Rummage Sale for Missions 3-7 p.m. Sept. 5 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Sewickley UM Church. Previously owned treasures, including household items, seasonal clothing, shoes, books, puzzles and much more, will be available. Please enter through door 10 from the Thorn Street driveway. All proceeds from the sale are used to fund local, national and international United Women in Faith mission projects.

St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church which holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. The Sunday 10 a.m. service can be live-streamed or accessed later on YouTube; for families attending in person, a nursery is available for infants and toddlers.

Sunday School will resume with a special kickoff on Sept. 7 between 9.30 a.m. and noon. The monthly Children’s Service will resume on Sept. 28 at 10 a.m.

The Book Club will meet in the library on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. to discuss “The Maid” by Nita Prose. The novel tells the story of a young hotel maid with social difficulties who becomes involved in a murder probe at an exclusive hotel.

Parishioners will make 120 backpack lunches at the church for people served by the Neighborhood Resilience Project in Pittsburgh. The work will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 13.

Conversation Friends, the parish’s English as a Second Language ministry, is seeking new volunteers to teach English to recent immigrants. No previous experience is necessary and the sessions are held over Zoom.

St. Brendan’s is supporting the North Hills Food Bank this month by collecting breakfast items such as cereal, pancake mix, syrup, oatmeal, juice and coffee. Donations may be left in the church lobby.

Sticks & Strings, the church group that likes to knit, crochet or embroider, meets on the third Tuesday and first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the library.

The Kids’ Community Closet is a “free-cycle” community space to share kids’ clothes (birth through size 14/16). All clothing is free and in good, very gently used condition — some items still have tags on. There are no applications, income requirements, or donations necessary.

The Kids’ Community Closet is located at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and noon to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

The Triumph Intercessory Prayer Team meets every Saturday to pray for the church, individuals, the nation and the world. Members are encouraged to share prayer requests with the team and share subsequent praise reports.
