Antioch Baptist Church

Beth Samuel Jewish Center

Beth Samuel Jewish Center offers weekly Shabbat services, family services once a month and Kabbalat Shabbat services online once per month. There is also Religious School every Sunday.

Additional events are as follows:

First Friday: Family Service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary, followed by an Oneg in the social hall.

Shabbat Morning Services: Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary, followed by a Kiddush in the social hall.

Kabbalat Shabbat Services: Usually on the third Friday of the month, at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Contact the office for the link. This get-together frequently includes a visiting musician, cantor, rabbi or other noteworthy guest.

AMPED Summer Camp’s mission is to provide middle schoolers with an amazing Christian summer camp experience, July 30-Aug. 3. Divine Redeemer Parish

Divine Redeemer Parish celebrates weekend Masses at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays at St. James Church and 5 p.m. at St. Mary Church in Aleppo.

Sunday Masses are celebrated at 8 and 11 a.m. at St. James and 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary.

Weekday Masses and Adoration are celebrated as well. Check the website for Mass times and other information and events.

The Divine Redeemer Quilters meet the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Meenan Center at Saint Mary Church, Glenfield Road in Aleppo to make quilts that are distributed to various places throughout the area. Last year, we made 364 quilts, which are finding homes in various places such as Caring Heights in Coraopolis, Verland, Genesis House, Little Sisters of the Poor, Holy Family Institute, etc. All are welcome to join.

A plarn workshop is scheduled for July 31 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This is the time to learn an easy skill to help eliminate plastic bag waste from the Earth. Meet at the Gathering Space in front of St. James Church parking lot (sign on the door to enter). Bring scissors and grocery bags or use ours. We cut and roll loops to be crocheted into Ssleeping mats for countries where people sleep on the ground. We have sent 878 mats to 18 countries. The last batch went to Uganda to help children with the Carlow U mission group. No skill level is necessary — just cutting.

A blood drive will be conducted on July 24 from 2:30-7 p.m. in the St. James Gathering Space. Divine Redeemer Parish Respect Life Committee seeks donations of gently used clothing and shoes, in sizes newborn through young adult as well as maternity, children’s books, baby wipes, and diapers (especially larger sizes). Items may be placed in the wooden bin outside of St. James Church or the box in the back of St. Mary Church.

Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church

Grace OPC is a Gospel-­grounded, Christ-centered Christian community committed to promoting and maintaining a Reformed and Presbyterian identity in belief and practice.

A nondenominational church that seeks to know, experience and follow the Lord together in community. Sunday worship is at 9:15 and 11 a.m. Full Kids Church and Autism Ministry are provided along with Student Ministry from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday nights.

Sewickley Presbyterian Church

Summer Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the dining room. Both services are live­streamed online.

The Day on the Lawn rummage sale will be held on Sept. 6. Donations are welcome and will be accepted on July 19, Aug. 16, and Aug. 30 from 9 a.m.-noon. Visit the website to view donation guidelines before bringing donations to the church.

Sewickley United Methodist Church

Sewickley United Methodist Church has two services each Sunday: 9 a.m. contemporary, featuring our praise band Leap of Faith; and 11 a.m. traditional, with nursery care and children’s ministries during both services.

The church is a reconciling congregation and openly welcomes all people.

Children and youth entering preschool through eighth grade are invited to participate in “Block Party: Growing God’s Community,” a free Community VBS hosted by St. Matthews AME Zion, St. Paul’s Lutheran and Sewickley UMC churches from Aug. 3-6. Our VBS is offered later in the summer than most programs, but we like to think of our program as a path toward the new school year. Invite classmates, teammates, cousins and neighbors. Our “Block Party” is free for any children and youth from any community.

St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sundays and 5 p.m. Wednesdays.

The Sunday 10 a.m. service can be livestreamed or accessed later on YouTube; for families attending in person, a nursery is available for infants and toddlers. Sunday School and the monthly 10 a.m. Children’s Service are on hiatus for the summer.

The parish is supporting the North Hills Food Bank this month by collecting donations of canned vegetables, chili, beef stew, tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce. Donations may be left in the church lobby.

Parishioners are reminded to complete their online parish survey to express their views to the Discernment Committee on St. Brendan’s search for its next priest. The deadline for submission is midnight on July 28.

The next Taize will take place on July 30 at 5 p.m. The quiet, contemplative service provides time for meditation and a pause in the busy pace of modern life.

The Annual Parish Picnic will take place Aug. 3 at Maple Grove Pavilion in Blueberry Hill Park, Franklin Park. The event will begin at 10 a.m. with an outdoor Eucharist service followed by food, fellowship and fun.

St. Brendan’s Book Club will meet Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. to discuss “The God of the Woods” by Liz Moore. Two worlds collide in the novel after a teenager vanishes from an Adirondack summer camp.

Parishioners are invited to pick up an empty backpack at church, fill it with school supplies for needy students and return it by Aug. 10. The backpacks will be distributed to several elementary schools in and around Pittsburgh.

Sticks & Strings, the church group that likes to knit, crochet or embroider, meets on the third Tuesday and first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the library.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church

Sunday worship is at 9 a.m.; Sunday school at 10:15 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Weekly Bible study is at 10 a.m. Tuesdays at the Edgeworth Eat’n Park.

The Kids’ Community Closet is a “free-cycle” community space to share kids’ clothes (birth through size 14/16). All clothing is free and in good, very gently used condition — some items still have tags on. There are no applications, income requirements, or donations necessary.

The Kids’ Community Closet is located at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and noon to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

St. Stephen’s Anglican Church

Join us for an evening of prayer, scripture, praise and reflection from 6:30-8 p.m. July 27 in the Sanctuary.

The church is collecting $25 gift cards for back-to-school for our Side by Side Moms group. Please consider helping the single moms in our community get their kids ready to go back to school. Triumph Church

A senior ministry Bible study is held in person and online on Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Volunteers are needed for the fourth Friday of every month for Triumph’s food distribution. From 2-4 p.m., volunteers will set up and package food and from 5-7 p.m., volunteers will distribute and break down the setup. Visit the website to sign up.

The Triumph Intercessory Prayer Team meets every Saturday to pray for the church, individuals, the nation and the world. Members are encouraged to share prayer requests with the team and share subsequent praise reports.
