Glen Oaks Girl Scouts wrap up camp

The Glen Oaks Girl Scout Community put its scouts’ problem-solving skills to test during the 26th annual day camp, June 22-25.

The theme of the camp this year was “iSpy.” On the last day of camp, 135 girl scouts learned to play ultimate frisbee and performed skits they had practiced. An estimated 25-30 volunteers helped out at the camp.

Barbara Cooley Thaw, service unit manager and day camp director, noted that at least half of the volunteers took the day off of work to be at the camp.

Thaw also praised the girl scouts before they performed their skits, telling parents she saw them accomplishing a lot in the future.

“This is an amazing group of girls that is going to do mazing things,” Thaw said.

Scouts in Kindergarten through 12th grade participated in the camp.

There was also an award ceremony and closing flag.
