Alpaca program

The Sewickley Public Library welcomes presenter Mary Burns for an engaging program all about alpacas on July 13 from 1-2:30 p.m.

Learn about farming, yarn production and how fiber products are made with some examples to touch and see, with additional products for purchase.

Bloom Market

Sweetwater Center for the Arts is partnering with local businesses Green Hen Farms and Two Little Blooms Garden for Sweetwater Blooms Market, a once-monthly, fresh flower market that will sell flowers, local artwork and garden-related items.

It pops up on Bank Street between Broad and Walnut streets in Sewickley this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20. The market takes place once a month on Saturdays through October. For more information, visit sweetwatercenter.org.

Meetings planned

Leetsdale council will meet at 7 p.m. July 11 at the borough building, 373 Beaver St.

Sewickley Heights council will meet at 4:30 p.m. July 15 at the borough hall, 238 Country Club Road.

Aleppo commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. July 15 at the municipal building, 100 North Drive.

Glen Osborne council will meet at 7 p.m. July 16 at Osborne Elementary School, 1414 Beaver St.

Edgeworth council will meet at 7 p.m. July 16 at the borough building, 301 Beaver Road.

Hard to recycle

A hard-to-recycle event is planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 27 in Leetsdale Industrial Park, 380 Leetsdale Industrial Drive.

Cost is $5 per participant. It includes unlimited recycling of cell and home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment, microwave ovens, stereo equipment, VCD and DVD players, and more.

There are additional fees for fluorescent tubes, printers, tires, TVs and Freon appliances.

Business Connection

Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet at the Eat N’ Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. July 17. Speakers will be Suzette McCarrell of McCarrell Landscape Construction and Stephanie Milazzo of Mary Kay Cosmetics.
