Bell Acres appointments made
Bell Acres council recently appointed people to various boards and commissions.
Bradley Semonik was reappointed to the zoning hearing board for a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2026.
Gregory Molchen was reappointed to the planning commission for a four-year term ending Dec. 31, 2027.
John Walliser was appointed to the environmental advisory council for a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2026.
Wayne Fortuna and Addie Sochats were both reappointed to the Bell Acres Municipal Authority board for five-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2028.
Board position open
Aleppo Township officials seek a resident to serve on the zoning hearing board. The board reviews and considers applications for variances from the zoning ordinance. They meet as needed. ZHB members cannot be township employees or on any other township boards or commissions.

Do not feed the deer
Aleppo residents are reminded to not feed deer. The township has an ordinance prohibiting such actions, including providing a salt block. Those who violate the ordinance may be subject to a fine of $300 to $1,000. The ordinance is available for review at aleppotownship.com.
Folk February
Folk February, a concert series highlighting local talent through folk, indie, and Americana music, will feature Pittsburgh’s favorite performers throughout Fridays in February at Sweetwater Center for the Arts’ Community Room. Buffalo Rose will perform on Feb. 16 and Byron Nash on Feb. 23. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and performances start at 7:30. Cost is $25 and includes hors d’oeuvres. Fern Hollow summer camps
Fern Hollow Nature Center, located on 33 acres in Sewickley Heights, will offer more than 20 summer camps for children ages 3-14. Week-long camps will run from June 10 through Aug. 16 and both half-day and full-day sessions will be available. Children will experience quality environmental education with an emphasis on outdoor exploration and discovery. Offerings range from archery to sustainability. Some camps will take place at the Ohio Township Nature Center, located on nearby Nicholson Road.

Business Connection
Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet at the Eat N’ Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Feb. 21. On March 1, Cyndie Carioli of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office will give an update on current scams; Dan Sanko, VF-653 F4-U Korean Fighter Squadron, will speak on March 8; Dr. Frank Conn will discuss combat surgery in the Afghanistan Combat Theatre on March 15; Dr. Phillip Atteberry of the University of Pittsburgh will speak on English-American songwriter June Styne on March 22.
