Clean Up Day set

Leetsdale Clean Up Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon April 22. Volunteers can pickup supplies and a light breakfast at the borough building, 373 Beaver St. A light lunch will be served at noon. Contact Mayor Sandra Ford at 724-266-4820 or email mayorsford@gmail.com for more information.

Tree planting scheduled

Leetsdale will host a tree planting from 9 a.m. to noon April 29. The borough received multiple trees through Tree- Vitalize and needs volunteers to help plant them. Participants will meet at the Broad Street parking lot and be sent to the designated tree spots. All tools and materials, as well as a light breakfast and lunch, will be available at the borough building. Call the borough office to register. TreeVitalize is a joint partnership between DCNR, Western PA Conservancy, and other organizations across Pennsylvania.

Certificate awarded

Sewickley council approved a Certificate of Appropriateness to the owners of 520 Pine Road for an attached carport to an existing detached garage. Certificates are required for facade changes to properties in the borough’s historic districts.

Appointments made

Nicole Kriebel and Blair Chan were appointed to the Sewickley planning commission at a council meeting April 11.

Library events planned

Sewickley Public Library will host a fancy dinner party from 7-9 p.m. April 21 at 500 Thorn St.

It is for all teens in grades 6-12 to dress in their best outfit and bring a dish to share. Space is limited and registration is required.

Block Party: a family program is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to noon April 22 at the library. Children ages birth to 6 with their caregiver can play, build, read and learn together with blocks. No registration is required for the family program.

Arty Party for students in grades 4-8 is scheduled for 4-5 p.m. April 24 at the library. It is a new crafting program for tweens and teens and everyone in between to tackle a fun painting project. Registration is required.

Ukraine benefit concert

The second Benefit Concert for Ukraine will take place at 5:30 p.m. May 6 at the Sewickley United Methodist Church. It will feature solo and chamber performances by Dr. Solomiya Ivakhiv, William Caballero, Victoria Luperi, Cynthia Koledo DeAlmeida, Sung-Im Kim, Rodrigo Ojeda and more. Earth Day Cleanup

The Sewickley Heights Borough Park invites friends and park users to participate in an Earth Day Litter Clean Up on the roads around the park and the nature center. The event will occur at 10 a.m. April 22. We will meet at the Borough Park parking lot and divide the territory. Please bring gloves and wear high-visibility clothing.

Sewickley Cleanup Day

Sewickley’s Cleanup Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon April 22. Check-in is at 8:30 a.m. at the borough building, 601 Thorn St. Volunteers will receive safety vests, bags and gloves and will be assigned areas. The cleanup will take place at the parks, boat launches at Walnut and Chestnut streets, and along other roadways and alleys. Volunteers are asked to register for Earth Day so borough officials can plan for lunch, which is set for 12:30 p.m. at the borough building. The registration deadline is April 21.

Senior Men’s Club

An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club will host Will Knecht, who will discuss Wendell August Forge on March 31. Business Connection

The Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet April 26 at Eat’n Park on Route 60 in Robinson for breakfast from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Speakers will be Brian Koeberle, Esq., and Bill Paviol of SSA Security Systems.
