Clothesline sale
Sewickley Academy is now accepting new and gently used clothing, shoes, costumes, sporting goods, fashion accessories and books for all ages for its upcoming Clothesline Sale.
Items can be dropped off outside the Rea Auditorium on campus from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 27-29, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 30, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 2-5, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 6-7 and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 8.

Fall book sale
The Friends of the Sewickley Public Library invite the community to the annual Fall Book Sale, held at the Sewickley Public Library from Sept. 5-7.
Shoppers can browse a wide selection of gently used books, movies, music, and more, all at unbeatable prices. Whether you’re hunting for your next great read, stocking up on kids’ books, or looking for a few classics to add to your collection, there’s something for everyone.
Sale hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sept. 5 and 6 and 1-3:30 p.m. Sept. 7.
Sunday is Bag Day — fill a provided bag with as many items as you can for just $5.
All proceeds directly support programs, collections and services at the Sewickley Public Library.

Volunteers needed
The Borough of Leetsdale’s 4th of July Celebration has been a tradition since 1943 and has been enjoyed by the communities within and outside of Quaker Valley.
The committee is looking ahead to the nation’s 250th birthday celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026. It invites all to join in planning and raising funds for the historic 82nd annual parade and Zambelli reworks extravaganza. It will be an exciting year with fundraisers already in the works.
The committee will hold its First Annual Pancake Breakfast from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 11. in the Community Room of the Leetsdale Borough Building. More information will follow.

Alzheimer’s Association golf scramble
The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be the beneficiary of the We Remember Golf Scramble, set for 9 a.m. Sept. 12 at Black Hawk Golf Course in Beaver County. Cost is $100 per person (four-person teams), and includes prizes, a 50/50 raffle and lunch. SMC Club
SMC Club, an affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, will host Ken Kaszic on Aug. 22, who will talk about thinking like a writer. There will be no meeting on Aug. 29 because of Labor Day. Ron Carter of Strand Theatre in Zelienopile will speak on Sept. 5, and Joe Guffrie of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office will give a fraud and scam update on Sept. 19. Association of University People
The Association of University People invites singles 50 and over who are four-year college graduates to join them for activities and to meet new people. Activities include spring/summer picnics, monthly dinners, a book group, Scrabble and meeting up at local outdoor concerts and wineries.

Fern Hollow Nature Center
The gracious owners of Soggy Bottom Lake will allow Fern Hollow to host Family Fishing events on select Saturdays. All ages and abilities are welcome to fish the private property. Poles and bait are provided, or you can bring your own on Sept. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. Exact location is provided upon registration.

Gatsby: A Jazz Age Celebration
The Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall presents Gatsby: A Jazz Age Celebration on Sept. 26 at 300 Beechwood Ave. in Carnegie. Guests will enjoy live music by Adam Lee-Morgan Jazz Orchestra featuring Brittney Caraway. Special guest emcee is Natalie Bencivenga. The event benefits the Carnegie Carnegie.
