Concession staff hired for Henle Park
Leetsdale council hired Brendan Johns to manage the Henle Park concession stand at $13 per hour from 2-6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays through Aug. 31.
Ava Hajok was hired to work the concession stand at $13 per hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays through Aug. 31.
Seats on 2 boards in Leetsdale vacant
Leetsdale has two spots open on the recreation board. One term ends at the end of this year and the other ends at the end of next year.
There is a vacancy on the planning commission. The term ends at the end of next year.
Residents may submit letters of interest and resumes to the borough office, 373 Beaver St.
Availability change
Leetsdale full-time police officer Celina Kelly has resigned to take a part-time role at the borough station.
Council approved advertising to create a full-time eligibility list.
Kelly recently took a full-time job at the Sewickley Police Department.
Theater to show new PBS doc ‘Caregiving’
The Lindsay Theater is partnering with WQED and Comfort Keeper’s Western PA branch to screen the new PBS documentary “Caregiving” on June 26 at 7 p.m. Bradley Cooper produced and appears in this documentary about the challenges and triumphs of caring for ill or aging loved ones. Uzo Aduba (“Orange is the New Black”) narrates it — both she and Cooper have firsthand experience taking care of sick parents.
There will be a reception prior to the half-hour screening from 6-7 p.m. It will be followed by a panel discussion with local experts as caregivers and those in the field of providing full-time care. The event is free, but people should RSVP online at thelindsaytheater.org/event/caregiving.
National Night Out
Sewickley’s National Night Out event is set for 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 5.
Thorn Street between Logan and Chestnut streets will be closed during that time for the event.
Night Mart
Sewickley Chamber of Commerce will host Night Mark from 6 to 9 p.m. June 27 in Sewickley Village along Beaver Street.
More than 30 artisan vendors and more than 20 food and beverage vendors have signed up to participate.
Live music will be provided by James Tobin Music.

Sweet Jazz concerts
Sweetwater Center for the Arts announces the return of Sweet Jazz, an indoor/outdoor concert series at 7 p.m. on four Fridays featuring some of the region’s top jazz talent.
Sweetwater Center for the Arts is partnering with renowned Pittsburgh musician and educator Paul Thompson to curate a lineup that explores the origins and subgenres of jazz with some of Pittsburgh’s legendary musicians.
Dates are July 11 at Walnut Green and July 18 at Sweetwater Center for the Arts.
Tickets are $90 per person for the four-concert series or $25 per person per concert.

Association of University People seeks members
The Association of University People invites singles 50 and over who are four-year college graduates to join them for activities and to meet new people. Activities include spring/summer picnics, monthly dinners, a book group, Scrabble and meeting up at local outdoor concerts and wineries.
Those interested can attend three activities as guests before joining.

Fern Hollow Nature Center offers children’s activities
On select Mondays this spring and summer, Fern Hollow Nature Center is inviting children 5 and younger with their caregivers to explore local parks with educator Kara O’Neill.
The hourlong Nature and Nurture programs include a short kid-friendly hike, a nature-themed story and a simple craft.
Hikes are scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. July 28 and Aug. 18. Locations vary.
Designed to foster a love for the outdoors, Nature Night Out programs are offered on select Fridays at Fern Hollow Nature Center. Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Kristen Haas ensures that each session has the perfect blend of instruction, exploration, discovery and free play.
The drop-off program is for children ages 5 to 10 and occurs from 6 to 9 p.m. June 27, July 25 and Aug. 29.
