Edgeworth police seeking residents’ help
Edgeworth police hope to use residents’ security footage in the event of an incident. A notice was made in the borough’s spring newsletter inviting residents to reach out to the department and help if they have an outdoor camera system. Any and all information provided to the Police Department will remain confidential. If you have a camera system and are willing to review and share recordings when needed, or for additional information, contact the dispatch office at 412-741-9400.
Sewickley Sundae 5K
Christmas in July kicks off with the Sewickley Sundae 5K at 10 a.m. July 24. The event is sponsored by the Sewickley Chamber of Commerce and Sewickley Confectionary. All ages and abilities are welcome. Proceeds benefit the Keep the Lights on Project. Preregister at eventbrite.com.
Summer Movie Nights
Sewickley Academy will hold movie nights that are open to the public this summer on Wardrop Field. “Encanto” will be the featured film on June 30, and “Moana” will be shown July 21. Both events will begin with yard games at 7 p.m. and the films will be shown at dusk. Guests should bring their own picnic basket and blanket. A popcorn machine will be available. St. Stephen’s Anglican Church
Join in for Summer Cycling – Building Community (and off) two wheels. Come the first Saturday of each month through October to St. Stephen’s Church at 10 a.m. for bike-related events. On July 2, join in the Community Bike Parade. On the Fourth of July, deck out your bike and/or yourself, take a picture, and send it to info@ststephenschurch.net to participate in the Patriotic Bike Picture Contest. There will be an award for submissions that win in the following categories: funniest, most patriotic and most epic.
• Beginning on Wednesday, July 6, and running every Wednesday through the month of July, the church is hosting services of “praise and prayer” in Grace Commons from 7-8 p.m. These will be simple services for extended worship through song, which include the opportunity for prayer with others, personal reflection and brief teachings on the Psalms. Childcare is provided (age 0 through fifth grade).

Hard to Recycle event
Pennsylvania Resources Council will hold a hard-to-recycle collection on July 23 at Quaker Valley High School in Leetsdale. For a fee, individuals can drop off televisions and computer monitors, printers, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances and tires (with and without rims). At no cost, individuals can drop off cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.), expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens, video game consoles/DVD players and glass bottles, jugs and jars.

Senior Men’s Club
An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club will host the Mars Rovers Barbershop Quartet on July 8 at the YMCA. Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask. Nonvaccinated individuals are requested to wear a mask.
The Senior Men’s Club picnic will take place on July 15 at Moon Park. On July 22, the club will host the Sewickley Valley Historical Society – Mary Beth Pastorus will discuss historical architecture in the Sewickley Valley. On July 29, the topic will be the United States Coast Guard Station Pittsburgh and USCG Osage river operations.

Sleeping Mat Society
The Plarn Sleeping Mat Society will hold a workshop from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. June 30 in the Saint James Church Gathering Space (entrance seen from the parking lot). In June, 12 sleeping mats were sent to Poland to help the refugees from Ukraine, donated from the First Presbyterian Church of Monaca. We hope we can send more but we need crocheters and Plarn makers. Come join us if you can cut plastic bags and/or crochet. Only knowledge of basic crochet stitches are needed.
Bring scissors, plastic grocery bags, a ‘N’ crochet hook, and even a friend to get started. Extra bags will be available if needed. The group meets once a month, but working from home is encouraged. Call Joanne at 412-741-2368 with questions.
Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection
