Policy in process

Leet officials are in the process of creating a memorial tree/plaque policy.

Township manager Betsy Rengers said the goal is to have something in place to address requests from people wanting to plant trees or install plaques in memory of someone. At least one person has made such a request this year.

Rengers said commissioners have tabled the matter until a policy is adopted.

Memorial site discussed

A preconstruction meeting between El Grande Industries and Leet township officials took place earlier this month.

The Donora-based company was awarded a $267,000 contract for upgrades at Ambridge Avenue Park near the township building.

Part of the project involves creating the foundation for a new war memorial. However, actual war memorial construction will be done via a separate project.

Township manager Betsy Rengers said they discussed lighting and other related site issues. The park project is being funded through a $300,000 state grant. A construction start date has yet to be scheduled.

Movies in the park

Leetsdale Parks and Recreation will sponsor a Movie in the Park night July 24 at Henle Park.

The film “Alvin and the Chipmunks” will be shown at dusk.

Admission is free. The concession stand will be open with a variety of snacks and drinks available for purchase. Sales are cash only.
