The Pennsylvania Office of the Budget has awarded Nazareth Prep high school a $1 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant. The school, whose students hail largely from underrepresented communities, will use the grant on a new Science and Activities Building.

The RACP is a Commonwealth grant program that funds projects with cultural, civic, historical, regional or multi-jurisdictional impact. Nazareth Prep’s grant application received the support and advocacy of Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Pennsylvania State Representatives Anita Kulik, Jake Wheatley, and Valerie Gaydos, and Pennsylvania State Senators Jay Costa and Lindsey Williams.

A progressive, independent Catholic high school focused on college and career readiness, Nazareth Prep will use its Science and Activities building to expand educational partnerships, develop new relationships with community groups, and provide new educational opportunities – not only for its own students but also for other teens in the Pittsburgh area. Among its uses, the building will house expanded summer camp programming, providing athletic and academic enrichment for students of all backgrounds.
