Night Mart vendor spots open

Applications for Sewickley Night Marts are open to local artisans, bands and food vendors. No commercial vendors will be accepted.

Applications are available through the Sewickley Chamber of Commerce. Deadline to apply is May 31. Those who apply after that will be considered for a waiting list. Costs are $55 for artisans and $65 for food vendors. Payment is due at time of acceptance. Acceptance emails will be sent out by June 4.

Night Marts are from 6-9 p.m. June 24, July 29 and Aug. 26.

Sewickley Public Library

Sewickley Public Library will have free do-it-yourself craft kits for adults starting at 10 a.m. on May 17 at the library, 500 Thorn St.

Supply kits are available while supplies last. Different projects are featured each month.

The library’s knitters group will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon May 18 at the Colbert Room in the library.

The group meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month to work on projects or come to learn. Folks new to the hobby or have years of experience are welcome.

Sewickley Presbyterian Church

Marianne Cornetti, an internationally-known opera star who is also currently the artistic director of Pittsburgh Festival Opera, served as the Mezzo-soprano soloist/Alto section leader at Sewickley Presbyterian Church from 1990-1994. She will return to the church to participate in the 11 a.m. worship service on May 29.

The Spring 2022 version of the Word Sung be held 11 a.m. May 22 and will feature the choral and orchestral works of the British composer Gustav Holst (1874-1934). With string players from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and organist Regina Kettering, the Chancel Choir will perform Holst’s settings of Psalm 86 and 148 and his arrangement of the English folk hymn “Diverus and Lazarus.” The instrumentalists will also perform selected movements of Holst’s “St. Paul Suite.”

Senior Men’s Club

An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club will have FFA air traffic controller James Tompkins on May 13 and Mission Aviation Fellowship’s Peter Santana on May 20 at the YMCA. Remake Learning Day

Sewickley Academy invites families to Connect with Computer Science 6-8 p.m. May 18, on campus in the Events Center. Kids and parents can explore multiple stations focusing on many different areas of robotics and programming. There will be grade-level opportunities to engage hands-on with various coding software and languages as well as a variety of robots. This free, all-ages event is a part of the Southwestern PA regional division of the Remake Learning Days Across America festival. Registration is required at remakelearningdays.org.

Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection
