Agreement reached

Quaker Valley School Board members recently approved a developer’s agreement with the Edgeworth Municipal Authority for water service to the proposed new high school in Leet.

The agreement states the school district agrees to install the water system extension in accordance with the specifications of the authority and to be responsible for all costs. The extension of the water service will be included in the project bid.

However, the cost of installing two new water meters is estimated at around $12,000.

Board member Gianni Floro the agreement is another box checked in a long list of boxes of the project’s progress.

District officials continue to interview potential construction managers to find the best candidate to help coordinate the proposed high school project.

The 167,000-square-foot facility is planned on district property that straddles Leet Township, Edgeworth and Leetsdale, but the school will be in the township.

The project remains on schedule for a 2027-28 school year opening.

Exploring service providers

Glen Osborne officials are exploring other service providers for public works and landscaping as longtime maintenance man, John Wick, has retired after 40 years of service.

The council’s next voting meeting is April 15.

The borough budgeted $352,500 for public works this year. It includes funds for Waste Management garbage collection.

The latest exhibition at Mark Rengers Gallery, “Garden Delight,” depicts Carlos Gamez de Francisco and Eva Conrad pushing the boundaries of beauty, ornamentation and nature’s abundant presence in art. Their works embrace maximalism — flourishing with color, pattern, and intricate detail — transforming the common portrait and ceramic vessel into ones of wonder. The opening reception is set for 6-8 p.m. April 26. It will run through July 5.
