Road closure

The southbound lane of Fern Hollow Road at Pink House Road in Sewickley Heights Borough will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 for drilling near Little Sewickley Creek South Branch Bridge No. 1.

Pop-up shop

Kid’s Closet Connection is hosting a holiday sales event Nov. 4-8 at Western Allegheny Community Library, 181 Bateman Road in Oakdale. Parking is free, masks are required and cash and credit cards are accepted. For more information, visit kidscloset.biz/swpittsburgh.

Polling location

Residents of Sewickley will cast their ballots at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 405 Frederick Ave., on Nov. 3.

Bible study programs

Divine Redeemer Parish is offering two bible studies via Zoom presented by Jeff Cavins. An eight-week video-based bible study on Galatians will take place 1-3 p.m. Wednesdays. Contact 412-480-7714 to register. An 11-week video-based bible study on the Book of Revelation will take place 9:15-10:30 a.m. Sundays. Contact 724-350-5359 to register. Both sessions have started, but newcomers are welcome.

Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection

The Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet at the Eat’n Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Oct. 28. Speakers are Joe Rozman of Rozman Human Resources and Kim Kernick of Kernick Tire Center. For details, visit www.gpbc-pgh.org or call 412-364-6446, ext. 302.

Rotary Drive Up candy giveaway

The Quaker Valley Rotary Club will host a Drive Up Halloween Candy Giveaway from 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 31. The location will be curbside on Thorn Street in front of the Sewickley Borough Building. Enter Thorn Street from Peebles Street and continue on Thorn to the Borough Building. As a special treat, ROMO, the Robert Morris University Mascot, will make a special appearance. All current COVID-19 mandates must be followed.

Fall leaf collection

Sewickley’s fall leaf collection program will continue through Nov. 20, weather permitting.

Leaves are to be placed along the street line and not in the street. Placing leaves in the street can cause sewer backup and entice children to play in the leaves on the street, which creates a dangerous situation.

Brush, grass and shrubbery clippings are not to be mixed with leaves. Grass and shrubbery clippings are required to be bagged for weekly garbage collection. Branches must be cut to four-foot lengths and bundled; Waste Management, the borough’s waste collection hauler, will not pick up branches unless this is done. The borough will only pick up branches after a storm. Leaves that are not put out for collection during this time will have to be bagged for regular waste pick up.
