History Center event

Sewickley Heights History Center is hosting Pittsburgh Parlor Song of the Gilded Age, a lecture and recital, on July 19 at 6 p.m. Brady Collins will discuss Pittsburgh’s music publishing scene during the late 19th and early 20th century and perform selections including “Pittsburgh (You’re a Grand Old Town),” “My Youghiogheny Girl” and “Pittsburg: The City of Smoke.”

• Leetsdale council will meet at 7 p.m. July 10 at the borough building, 373 Beaver St.

• Leet commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. July 14 at the township building, 194 Ambridge Ave.

• Bell Acres council will meet at 6 p.m. July 14 at Big Sewickley Creek Fire Hall, 1850 Big Sewickley Creek Road.

• Glen Osborne council will meet at 7 p.m. July 15 at Osborne Elementary School, 1414 Beaver St.

• Edgeworth council will meet at 7 p.m. July 15 at the borough building, 301 Beaver Road.

• Sewickley Heights council will meet at 4:30 p.m. July 21 at the borough building, 238 Country Club Road.

• Aleppo board of commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. July 21 at the township building, 100 North Drive.

Pokémon Party

The library will host a Pokémon Party from 1-4 p.m. July 12 in the Children’s Department.

The free family program is for people who love Pokémon. There will be crafts, games, a scavenger hunt and more. Registration is not required

Pizza with Police

Edgeworth Police Department will host a Pizza with Police event at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Sewickley Academy’s Lower School cafeteria, 315 Academy Ave.

Admission is free. More information will be posted on the borough’s Facebook page.

National Night Out

Sewickley’s National Night Out event is set for 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 5.

Thorn Street between Logan and Chestnut streets will be closed during that time for the event.

Sweet Jazz concerts

Sweetwater Center for the Arts announces the return of Sweet Jazz, an indoor/outdoor concert series at 7 p.m. on four Fridays featuring some of the region’s top jazz talent.

Sweetwater Center for the Arts is partnering with renowned Pittsburgh musician and educator Paul Thompson to curate a lineup that explores the origins and subgenres of jazz with some of Pittsburgh’s legendary musicians.

Dates are July 11 at Walnut Green and July 18 at Sweetwater Center for the Arts.

Tickets are $90 per person for the four-concert series or $25 per person per concert.

Business Connection

The Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet at Eat N’ Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on July 16. Speakers will be Bill Forde of Keller Williams Commercial and Nick Hollinger of Victorian Finance. Association of University People

The Association of University People invites singles 50 and over who are four-year college graduates to join them for activities and to meet new people. Activities include spring/summer picnics, monthly dinners, a book group, Scrabble and meeting up at local outdoor concerts and wineries.

Those interested can attend three activities as guests before joining.

Fern Hollow Nature Center

The gracious owners of Soggy Bottom Lake will allow Fern Hollow to host Family Fishing events on select Saturdays. All ages and abilities are welcome to fish the private property. Poles and bait are provided, or you can bring your own. Upcoming dates are July 26, Aug. 9, and Sept. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. Exact location is provided upon registration.

Pack a lunch and come play at Fern Hollow’s Natural Outdoor Classroom every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through August 20. Best suited for preschool and early elementary children. Adult supervision is required. Donations accepted.

Allegheny Land Trust and Fern Hollow Nature Center present summer camp for grown-ups. Relive your favorite childhood summer camp memories and learn new skills. Sessions are $25 each or $95 for all 5 and take place on select Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Forest Bathing, July 30; Campfire Cooking, Aug. 13, and archery/bonfire on Aug. 27.

There are still some open roster spots left for the 2025 youth summer camp season.

The weekly day camps run through July and August and have sessions in the morning, afternoon, or all day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Designed for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade, the topics range from sustainability to watershed exploration. Financial aid is available for residents of Quaker Valley through a grant from the Union Aid Society.
