Celebration planned

Sewickley’s annual Juneteenth celebration is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the Sewickley Community Center, 12 Chadwick St.

There will be performances by the Triumph Church Choir, the Bryan Nash Trio, youth poets and Pittsburgh rapper Livefromthecity.

Other activities include a marketplace of diverse-owned businesses and food vendors, a bounce house, face painting, children’s activities and entertainment from DJ David Wicks. The community center’s swimming pool will be open to the public. Pool admission is $3.

Sewickley celebratory activities will be preceded by a new hour-long panel discussion at 11 a.m. at the center. The inaugural topic is “The Importance of Community.”

Appeal hearing set

An appeal hearing for former Leet Police Chief Michael Molinaro is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 21 at the township office, 194 Ambridge Ave.

The hearing will be before the township’s Civil Service Commission.

The hearing is open to the public. However, no public comment will be taken.

Additional hearings, if necessary, will be at the same location at 7 p.m. June 23, 27, 29, 30 and July 13 as continuations of the first hearing.

Splash pad open

Leetsdale’s splash pad in Henle Park is open for the season.

Opening day was June 3. Water will remain on from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week until Labor Day.

Hours can change without notice, and the water will be off when inclement weather is expected.

Night Mart planned

Sewickley Chamber of Commerce will host Night Mart from 6 to 9 p.m. June 30 along Beaver Street between Broad and Walnut streets.

The event will feature about 30 artisan vendors, 13 food trucks and tents, live entertainment and a local craft brew pop-up.

Vendors include From the Grounds Up Coffee, Slurp-N-Burst Boba Tea, Uni Ramen Bar, Veggies N’At, Baxter and the Bear, Clementina, and Found Woodworks.

Night Marts are also planned for July 28 and Aug. 25.

Summer reading starts

Sewickley Public Library’s summer reading program has begun.

The program is from June 5 through Aug. 5.

There are various reading challenges and prizes available for kids, teens and adults throughout the program.

Registration is still available. The library is located at 500 Thorn St.

Upcoming meetings

Sewickley Heights council will meet at 4:30 p.m. June 19 at the borough building, 238 Country Club Road.

Glen Osborne council will meet at 7 p.m. June 20 at Osborne Elementary School, 1414 Beaver St.

Edgeworth council will meet at 7 p.m. June 20 at the borough building, 301 Beaver Road.

Super Lawyers

W. Grant Scott and James R. Mall of Sewickley, both of the Meyer, Unkovic & Scott law firm, were named Super Lawyers 2023, the list of top attorneys in Pennsylvania.

Association of University People events

The Association of University People invites singles over 50, who are four-year college graduates, to join them for activities and to meet new people. Activities include monthly dinners, social gatherings, concerts and day trips. Those interested can attend three activities as guests before joining. Senior men’s club

An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club will host Donald Warhol from the Andy Warhol Museum, who will speak June 16 on Andy Warhol’s life and legacy. Business Connection
